A calculator focused on carbon footprint

The Nos Gestes Climat test focuses solely on greenhouse gas emissions, i.e. climate impact. This deliberate choice allows us to offer a tool that is:

  • Easy to use
  • Educational
  • Based on accurate and available data
    This approach is evolving, and its creators are fully aware of this.

Climate change, one limit among many

Climate change is just one of nine planetary boundaries identified by the scientific community as essential to the balance of our planet. Our lifestyles threaten — or have already exceeded — several of these boundaries.
Biodiversity loss and ocean acidification, for example, are two boundaries that have already been exceeded and are closely linked to climate change.

Why focus solely on carbon?

There are several reasons for this focus on carbon:

  • Readability: carbon is a single indicator that is easy to measure and understand.
  • Available data: carbon databases are rich, structured and well referenced.
  • Central impact: climate change is directly or indirectly linked to other environmental issues such as biodiversity loss.
    The aim of the simulator is therefore to provide an initial insight into ecological issues from a concrete, measurable and engaging perspective.

Complementarity to be built, not opposition

Addressing carbon footprints does not mean ignoring other issues. On the contrary, the aim is to:

  • Raise awareness of the complexity of environmental impacts.
  • Initiate a broader reflection on lifestyles.
  • Serve as a gateway to other more specialised tools (water, biodiversity, chemical pollution, etc.).

Conclusion – A starting point, not a comprehensive solution

Our Climate Actions does not claim to cover all environmental issues. It is a climate awareness tool designed to encourage personal reflection.
